Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name or place entered in a search box is sent directly to the outside provider operating that tool. The provider processes the query and supplies any result. Lincoln County Criminal History does not keep or log those search terms on its own systems.
Messages and Contact Submissions
An email or other direct message may be retained long enough to respond and maintain the related correspondence. It is not disclosed outside the organization unless disclosure is required by law.
Data We Gather Automatically
Loading a page can cause the servers to receive routine technical information about the visit:
- The IP address assigned to your device
- Which browser you are using and its version
- Your device type and operating system
- The pages you visited and how long you stayed on each
- The site that sent you here, if any
- Timestamps for each page view
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small files placed on a device. They help measure traffic, popular pages, and where visits end. Analytics providers combine that usage data for reporting. A browser can reject or remove cookies, though some site functions may then work differently.

- Figuring out which pages people find useful and which need work
- Tracking down and fixing technical issues

No Criminal-Record Data on File
This site neither maintains nor sells a database of personal criminal records. Its general guidance identifies how to request Lincoln County material from the sheriff, Lincoln County Combined Court, the Colorado Bureau of Investigation, and the Colorado Sex Offender Registry. It is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, and visitor information is not compiled into reports about other people.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies supply the search-box functions. Information submitted there is governed by that company's privacy terms rather than this policy. Each partner controls its retention, processing, and disclosure rules, so review those terms before entering a query.
Links to Other Websites
Throughout the site we link to sheriff's office pages, court portals, state agency sites, legal aid groups, and third-party search tools. Clicking any of those links takes you off our site. At that point, their privacy policy governs your visit. Read it before sharing any personal details.
Certain advertising partners may track your activity across sites to show targeted ads. That tracking runs on their systems, not ours.
Who Might See Your Data
We do not sell personal data. Some information may end up with:
- Search partners that handle queries you run on our site
- Analytics services we use to track traffic and performance
- Ad networks that place ads on our pages
- Law enforcement or government bodies when a valid legal order requires it
How We Protect Your Data
Reasonable administrative and technical safeguards protect collected information. No internet system can be guaranteed secure, however, and this site cannot promise that unauthorized access will never occur.
Users Under 18
The service is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal data from anyone younger than 18. Notice that a minor supplied such data will be reviewed so the information can be removed.
Your Data Rights
Colorado privacy and consumer-protection law, including the Colorado Privacy Act at C.R.S. §§ 6-1-1301 through 6-1-1313, may provide rights that depend on the data and the entity processing it. Criminal-justice records are separately governed by the Colorado Criminal Justice Records Act, C.R.S. §§ 24-72-301 through 24-72-309, including the dissemination provisions in C.R.S. § 24-72-304. CORA, C.R.S. §§ 24-72-201 through 24-72-206, applies to other Colorado public records. These laws do not turn this private site into a government custodian. At a minimum, you can:
- Ask for a copy of what we have on file about you
- Have us fix information that is wrong
- Request that we erase your data
- Opt out of certain kinds of data processing
Updates to This Policy
This policy may be revised as practices or legal duties change. A revision takes effect when the new text and effective date are posted here.
